Rochester, NY -- A state Supreme Court justice in Rochester says he'll have a written ruling by November 8th in a legal fight over the city's red light cameras.
Justice J. Scott Odorisi heard arguments Tuesday in the case brought by Lawrence Krieger challenging the camera tickets on due process grounds. The City's Attorney, Adam Clark, argues that the violation is only a civil penalty -- like a parking ticket.
Krieger's attorney Michael Steinberg also said the city's interest is not the protection of drivers. Steinberg argued a drop in the number of motor vehicle accidents in the city has had little to do with the cameras.
