Canandaigua, NY -- The new runway has opened at the Canandaigua Airport. Dignitaries cut the ribbon on Tuesday.
It sat too short for 15 years, but now, Mike Manikowski, the head of Economic Development for Ontario County, is excited about being able to better serve expanding businesses in the county.
He says the county bought the property and built the county's first hard-surface runway in the early 1990s and been working since then to make it capable of handling any type of corporate jet.
The airport is NOT a commercial hub, like the airport in Rochester. Rather, it is designed for private aircraft.
