Rochester, NY -- Rochester Mayor Tom Richards says he has not had any conversations with any political party leader about the mayoral election since he quit the campaign last month.
That follows a statement from the local Independence Party chairman last night urging voters to vote for Richards. Although Richards lost the Democratic primary to Lovely Warren, he remains on the ballot on both the Independence and Working Families tickets.
Richards said today, "At the time of my announcement, I also stated that I was not going to entertain political speculation. That also continues to be true. Since that time, I have been concentrating my time on my family and on my job as Mayor."
Richards' statement doesn't say he won't serve if he's elected.
